The Family

"Hmm that sounds weird. I think I might tell Soaring Eagle about this. See what he makes of it." Chuck said softly. "But for now I will stay with you and my new granddaughter.

(I swear.. this Rp seems to revolve around me now.. if I don't post it goes no where..)

"Dad, who's Soaring Eagle?" Lari asked puzzledly, not quite fully awake yet. "And it means that I should avoid small people..." she slurred.

(Yes, it does. XD)

"Soaring Eagle is the Cherokee medicine man. You keep forgetting we are part Cherokee don't you?" Chuck said. "I don't think that it means that you should keep away from Small people."

"Dad, we all know I'm not that smart to begin with...and yes it does. Either small people or people who wear way too much makeup," Lari countered.

"Well if it involves something with them saying you are the chosen one. I don't think that can be all it means Lari." Chuck said shaking his head.

"Whatever," Lari rolled her eyes. "Where'd Jasper go? Nevermind, maybe I don't want to know..." she shook her head, trying to clear it.

"I don't know where he went, something about going to get food or something." Chuck said letting his daughter clear her mind

"Eh...whatever..." Lari was oddly calm. "Has anything interesting happened in the Family since I've been in here, other than Nef and her new beau?" she inquired.

"No nothing that I have been told of." Chuck said
"Just the usual information about how most of the family isn't going to be able to make it for the Family Christmas party due to weather, but they do want to be able to see photos of Christine in the next Christmas card." Chuck said smiling at Lari.

"Grampa included?" Lari cringed as she imagined his reaction. "Oh dear...what was his reaction?"

"Oddly enough as he has gotten older and the cancer has begun to set in, he has become less obsessed with the whole family honor and what not." Chuck said.

"He told me that he wanted to be able to hold the childe in his arms at least one time before he died." Chuck said a little sad.

"What has the doctor said? How much time?" Lari asked as the tears began to well up in her eyes.

"He has at best another 2 years the doctor told him." Chuck said with a sigh and wiped the one tear that had fallen down Lari's face and gave her a hug

Lari hugged her dad back with one arm, still holding Christine in her other arm. "Thanks for telling me, Dad. But he can't die! He just can't!" her voice broke as she tried imagining a world without Grampa. "Isn't there medication or something? He could get better!" Lari cried.

"He already is on borrowed time with the medication that he is on. But the cancer is becoming resistant, even with the amped up doses. I'm afraid that Grandpa won't get to see his great-grandchild grow up to be a young lady." Chuck said softly and sadly.

"Can they not just cut out the cancerous cells?" Lari sobbed. "This sucks!" she wailed unhappily.

"They did.. but it spread to where they can't remove them without possibly killing him." Chuck said as he held his daughter closely as she cried into his shoulder "I know honey, I know it sucks."

"This can't be happening. Are you sure they've done everything they possibly can? There has to be something they have not thought of!" Lari wept, obviously just grasping at straws. "You're God! Can't you fix him?"

"Lari, I've told you this time and time again, I can't interfer with life and death, even though I am god. Death and I had a deal millions of years ago, I create life, but he brings it out, I can only delay it. Ultimately they have to die, unless both death and I agree on there is something they have to do with their life they deserve to life for another few years." Chuck said with a sigh.

"You have no idea how hard I've tried to get death to allow for your grandfather to keep living." Chuck said trying not to cry.

"Then let me try. Where does this Death guy live?" Lari asked, a gleam of defiance in her eyes.

"Oh if you want I can just have him her in a second." Chuck said pulling out his special cell phone that he never let anyone touch except himself and called up death and a guy in a black hood and sycthe showed up.

"What the hell Chuck?" Death said, "I was about to end the life of Stephan Hawkins.. you know how rare that is with that guy? Anyway what do you want since you called me up."

"I wanted to have a word with you, Death," Lari glared up at the hooded figure, then handed her newborn daughter to Chuck. "Can you hold Chrissy for a few minutes? Thanks Dad." Then she turned back to Death. "Why my grampa? Huh? You have no idea how happy my life was until you came along! Is there any way I can persuade you otherwise?"

"Are you kidding me? I'm death there is nothing I need nor want." Death said with a slight shrug

"Are you quite sure?" the skeptical Lari asked. "If you kill my Grampa, I will do much worse to you," she smiled evilly.

"I'm death you can't do anything to me." Death said confidently to Lari.
